A 17-year-old spent Thanksgiving in jail, charged Tuesday in the shooting of a Selma woman Sunday night.

Police said the incident was “possibly drug related.”

Otis Williams of 2033 Eugene Ave., identified from arrest reports, has been charged as an adult for the shooting of Rosie Parnell.

Bond for Williams was set at $130,000.

Parnell, 21, was shot in the hip and remained hospitalized for two days at Vaughan Regional Medical Center. Parnell said she saw a person with a gun standing across Lawrence Street, firing repeatedly in her direction.

It was the second time the 1218 Lawrence St. residence had been fired upon.

According to police reports, someone opened fire on the home of Parnell’s family just after midnight Sunday. The suspect admitted to police it was he who returned about 2 p.m. Sunday when Parnell was shot.

Williams came voluntarily to the police department with his mother after learning authorities wanted him for questioning. Officers said the suspect confessed.

Williams is charged with assault first degree, shooting into an occupied

dwelling and shooting into an unoccupied vehicle. The weapon the youth used

in the shooting had the serial numbers filed off, which led to an additional

charge. He remained jailed Tuesday night.
