Albert Wayne Sims
Albert Wayne Sims, age 62, died Thursday Oct. 4, 2007. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday Oct. 7, 2007 at the chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Kennis officiating. He is survived by his wife, Joanne D. Sims, mother, Edna B. Sims, four children; Kim Sims Peake (Lee), Shannon Sims Pipkin (Kevin), Ivy Sims Real (Tracy), and Albert Wayne Sims Jr., grandchildren; Mary Taylor Peake, Phillip Lee Peake, Clayton Evan Hawkins, Victoria Grace Pipkin, Gabriel Matthew Pipkin and unborn Trisan Wayne Real, sister, Janice S. Kennis (Joel), and brother, Philip Terry Sims (Lyndie). Wayne Sims had 40 years with Allstate Insurance and was recently voted Selma Times-Journal Readers Choice Insurance Agent of the Year.
Honorary Pallbearers are Tommy McHugh, Ray Denmark, George Denmark, Ronnie Worrell, Robert Luker, Tracey Real and Chuck Utsey.
Loretta B. Moore
Loretta B. Moore, 82, of Selma died Oct. 5, 2007, at a local hospital. Time and place of services will be announced at a later time. Arrangements by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home,Inc.
Ethel Kent
Ethel Kent, 83, of Plantersville died Oct. 5, 2007, at a local nursing home. Arrangements will be announced by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home, Inc.
Bernice Gillis Pitts
Bernice Gillis Pitts, 82, resident of Marion died Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at Perry County Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 22, 1925 in Selma to Arthur A. Pitts and Olie Gillis Pitts.
She was a long time secretary and bookkeeper at A.G. Parrish High School. She leaves behind many treasured friends and relatives.
Graveside service is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at 2 p.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma. Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directing.
Lorrie (Reid) Mitchell
Lorrie (Reid) Mitchell passed away Oct. 2, 2007, at her home in Jackson.
She was a 42 year old native of Selma when she left us to be with the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Eugene Reid of Selma; two grandmothers and two grandfathers
Lorrie loved being outdoors hunting, fishing and gardening.
Surviving are her best friend and loving husband, Warren Mitchell of Jackson; one son, Robert Noel “Trey” Cross III of Monroeville; step-daughter, Alicia (Kevin) Craig of North Carolina; step-son, Craig Mitchell of North Carolina; grandson, Baily Craig of North Carolina; mother and step-father, Birdese Reid (formally of Selma) and Leo Daniels and many nieces and nephews of Opelika, AL; six step-sisters and step-brothers; four sisters and one brother, Lynn Reid, Lanet Ricketts, Leah Reid and Rachel (Jonathan) Sebren
all of Selma and Robbie Reid of Dadeville; special cousin, Earl (Tracy) Handley; five nieces, Kalyn Duke of Wetumpka, and Regina Reid, CJ Lassiter, Ashley Reid and Regan Sebren all of Selma; three nephews, Johnathan (Keri) Duke, Colby Sebren and Trent Sebren
all of Selma, AL; four aunts, two uncles and many cousins.
She is surely missed but will never be forgotten.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Selma Funeral Home with the Rev. George K. Jones Sr. and Father Carroll Plourde officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.
Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:30-2 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Reid, Chad Fails, Ricky Mitchell, Thomas Harris, Michael Bert Hobson, Jonathan Sebren and Johnathan Duke.

Steven Jackson
Steven Jackson was born Nov. 22, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio to the union of Mary and Fleming Jackson, Sr. Steve was raised by the late Mr. and Mrs. Emery King.
Steve married the late Ella Mae Jackson, and to this union two beautiful daughters were born.
He leaves to cherish his memory his two daughters, Nikia and Ebony; his mother, Mary Patrick; his siblings, Stanley Jackson Sr., Ronald Jackson and Carol Alexander; sister-in-law, Linda Jackson; grandchildren, Jordon, Aaron Falls and Taylor Jefferson; nieces and nephews, Charlotte, Pam, Tiffinee, Stanley Jr., Lorene and Ronell; his best friend, Calvin Leashore, whom he loved as a brother, and a host of other family and friends.

Service were held on Friday, Sept. 28, 2007 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Jean Zeigler Bedgood
Jean Zeigler Bedgood passed peacefully from this life to a glorious life when He who loved her called her home on Friday, Oct. 5, 2007. The family will receive friends Monday, Oct. 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. at FUMC in the Friendship Room.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. in FUMC’s Sanctuary with Lawson Bryan, Alvin Harbour and Jeremy Pridgeon officiating; the family will receive friends again following the service.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Montgomery for 33 years, a member of First United Methodist of Eufaula for 30 years and active in numerous civic organizations.
She was also a graduate of the University of Alabama, president of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, selected for membership in the Mortar Board, and an engineer with AT&T. Mrs. Bedgood was preceded in death by her father, Fred Eugene Zeigler Sr. Survivors include her mother, Earle Zeigler; her husband of 41 years, Charles Harold Bedgood; daughters, Sara Bedgood (John Jr.) McFaddin and Sally Marie Bedgood; brother, the Rev. Fred E. Zeigler Jr. and grandson, Joshua Logan McFaddin.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Montgomery, the Karl Stegall Ministerial Scholarship Fund c/o FUMC or to ovarian cancer research c/o the American Cancer Society.
