Purdie Grover, 77, a resident of Selma died
Sept. 25, 2007, at
a local hospital.
Funeral services will be announced at a later date by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home, Inc.
Thurman Callen
Thurman Callen, 90, a resident of Jones, Ala. died Sept. 24, 2007, at Shelby Medical Center.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Valley
Baptist Church, Jones, Ala.,
officiated by
the Rev. A. D. Smith. Burial
following at Pleasant Valley Cemetery directed by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home, Inc.
He is the son of the late Lucy Lanier and Princeton Mixon.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Lee Callen;
two sons, Thurman Callen and Lawrence James Callen; two daughters, Bertha Lee (Callen) Daniels and Willie Ann (Callen) James; three brothers, Rayfield Lanier, Matthew Lanier and Willie B. Lanier; five sisters, Evelyn Benjamin, Ruby Alexander, Lillie Jackson, Daisy Lanier, and Adelle Barry.
Pallbearers are family members and others.
Jessie Mae Billingsley
Ms. Jessie Mae Billingsley, age 66, resident of Marion, Ala.
died Sept. 23, 2007, at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
Services are scheduled for Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, 2 p.m. at
Marion Baptist Academy, officiated by Elder Willie Jiles. Burial to follow in Pine Crest Memorial Garden.
Survivors include two sons, Sgt. Lee James (Delores) Billingsley and Caheen Billingsley; seven daughters, Zadie (Steven) Rogers, Irma (Albert) Childs, Charlene (Michael) Foster, Cynthia Billingsley, Anita (Ronald) Rutledge, Doris (Fairest) Cureton, and Tammera Billingsley; one brother, Jimmie Billingsley; 16 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a host of special friends. Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
