Selma Police are searching for a suspect believed to be the gunman in a shooting last Thursday that left one man inches — or centimeters — from death.
Selma Detective Sgt. Tory Neeley said the department is looking for Demarious Pullom, of Selma, for a shooting that took place in the 2300 block of U.S. Highway 80.
“We believe he is still in Selma,” Neeley said Tuesday. “There is a warrant for his arrest for the charge of attempted murder.”
According to reports and witnesses, Pullom reportedly used a high-powered rifle to fire three shots at the unidentified victim. Two of the bullets struck the victim, one grazing his hand, the other grazing his head. The victim, who knew Pullom, was treated at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
According to Neeley, the victim, along with witnesses at the scene, some of which are relatives of Pullom, identified Pullom as the shooter. The victim also identified Pullom from a photo lineup.
“We are asking the community for help in finding Mr. Pullom,” Neeley said. “As I said, we believe he is still in the area.”
The shooting took place around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25 near a business on Hwy. 80. Neeley said police also have video of the incident from a camera that was positioned nearby.
Pullom is listed to have an address on Town Circle, but family at the address told Neeley and other investigators they had not seen the suspect since last Friday.
Anyone with information on Pullom’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Selma Police Department at 874-2190 or Crimestoppers at 877-3530.
