Is early college program ‘tracking?’

To the Editor:
Good story in the Sunday paper about the early college program that is available to local high schoolers so that they can obtain their college degree sooner.
Although the concept is a good one, I have the feeling that we have been down this rocky road before.
Unless I have misread or misunderstood the story, isn’t this what was called “tracking” back in 1990, that segregated our schools, started boycotts and other chaos that started Selma on a slow downward slide and still leaves a bad taste in everyone’s mouth?
I think the new program is just repackaged and renamed. I would like someone to publicly explain, in this newspaper, just what the difference really is.
It seems to me to be “tracking” all over again. Where are the hell raisers now?
