Morgan knew things would be tough this season, but the Senators’ ship has hit an unfamiliar rough spot in the sea.

A second straight loss has put Morgan in the hole in region play and overall on the year.

Monroe scored in each quarter and took a 23-0 win at Morgan Stadium Friday night.

A sign of how tough a time Morgan is having is a 29-yard rushing performance by quarterback Daniel Lee that led the team.

Logan Cowart’s defensive performance was one of the few bright spots for Morgan. The senior had 10 tackles.

Otherwise, there was little stopping Monroe’s offensive attack.

Cody Philen’s 7-yard touchdown run in the first quarter made it a 7-0 ball game.

Sam Vermilyea got into the end zone on a 26-yard run in the second quarter, but Morgan blocked the extra point and held the lead at 13.

Todd Kilpatrick did the rest of the offensive damage for the Knights.

His 24-yard field goal in the third quarter made it a 16-0 ball game.

Then the final blow came in the fourth when Kilpatrick connected with Phillip McKinley on a 37-yard touchdown play to cap scoring.
