Selma-Dallas County Tourism is giving people another chance to explore the paranormal side of Dallas County’s history.
Selma-Dallas County Tourism has announced the return of its Haunted History Tours scheduled for Oct. 21-22.
“This will be the fifth year that we’ve done the tours,” said Candace Johnson, director of the Selma-Dallas County Tourism Bureau.
Johnson said participants will take a tour of Cahawba State Park on Friday and then tour historic areas around Selma on Saturday.
“Friday night features Cahawba, and they’ll get on a ghost wagon that will take them to two locations,” Johnson said. “They give you the history of the event and they also give you some ghost stories that happened there. Then you end the night around a bonfire sharing experiences … that you may have had with the paranormal.”
Johnson said participants will get to go on a paranormal investigation while at Cahawba on the only night of the year the state park is open past dusk.
Johnson added participants will also tour historic areas around Selma.
“On Saturday we feature Selma’s attractions, with Sturdivant Hall and Old Live Oak Cemetery,” Johnson said. “At Sturdivant Hall, you get a tour of the home, they’ll be actors there dressed up to portray the family that lived there and you get to hear the tour guides tell you experiences they had at Sturdivant that can’t be explained.”
Johnson said the tour sells out every year and tickets are already on sale.
The tours are for ages 12 and up and tickets are on sale for $15.
A Haunted History Tour getaway package will be offered to guests in partnership with the historic St. James Hotel.
The package for two includes overnight accommodations on Oct. 21 and 22, admission to Cahawba Spirit Investigation and Selma’s Haunted History Tour, breakfast each morning and a hotel tour for $225 plus tax.
