Izora Holcombe May
Izora Holcombe May, born Oct. 7, 1909, age 97, a native of Koenton and a resident of Chatom, departed this life July 23 at Washington County Hospital in Chatom. She retired as a domestic.
She was born to the parentage of George Holcombe and Mamie Mitchell Holcombe.
She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Jackson, Ala.
Survivors are: one son, James (Bessie) May of Uniontown, Ala.; four daughters, Lodis Ceil (Willie O.) Johnson of Chatom, Ala., Mary Ann (Johnny) Flowers of Uniontown, Ala., Zora L. (Sterling) McIntyre of Birmingham, Ala., and Jeanetta Humphrey of Birmingham, Ala.; two sisters, Claudia Donaldson of Chatom, Ala. and Olivett Bowe of Hollywood, Fla; 36 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 27 at 1 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, Hwy 43, Jackson.
Viewing will be Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Andrews Funeral Home.
A second viewing will be Friday from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour of 1 p.m.
Burial in Easy Hill Cemetery in Koenton.
Arrangements are entrusted to Andrews Funeral Home, Jackson, Ala.
Erma Faye York
Erma Faye York, age 57, of Dallas County, died July 23, 2007, at Baptist Health South in Montgomery, Ala.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, July 28 at 11 a.m. at East Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. W.J. Brown Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at Isabella Baptist Church cemetery.
Lewis Brothers Funeral Home Inc., directing.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles York and Willie Ray York; and one brother-in-law, George Walker.
Survivors include her mother, Lucille Shields; one son, Micheal L. York; two daughters; Malinda (Ronald) Smith and Sherone D. York; one brother, Robert L. Shields; and four sisters, Dorothy Walker, Willie Mae York, Mary Alice Shields and Irene (Darrell) Dailey.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
