The “Miss Kitti” Theatre of the Performing Arts Center was dedicated Sunday afternoon in honor of the late Kathryn Tabb Windham, director from 1995-2005.

The bronze plaque, in the lobby of the theatre, was unveiled by her mother, Kathryn Tucker Windham in the presence of family members and friends and theatre associates gathered for the occasion.

The Rev. Joseph Knight gave the invocation, Selma Mayor James Perkins Jr. and City Council President George Evans welcomed the guests in brief statements.

City Council members Bennie Crenshaw and

Cecil Williamson were also present.

Vaughan Russell recalled his friend and theatre associate in a humorous and nostalgic talk.

Members of Miss Kitti’s family were on hand for the dedication, including her brother Ben Windham, his wife Susan and

son David; her mother Kathryn Tucker Windham;

her sister Dilcy Windham Hilley and her son Ben. An informal reception followed the dedication.
