To the Editor:
As this school year comes to an end, I would like to thank Southside P.T.O. board and president Bruce Holmes for his dedication to the children, their education and the parents.
It has been very much appreciated.
The many accomplishments we have achieved have, in large part, been due to his perseverance and high standards of excellence. Here are just a few of the accomplishments that I must mention:
For the first time in five years, Southside High School will have yearbooks for the school year. Also, the class of 2005 will receive their yearbooks this year.
Secondly, you started a fund-raiser to build a computer room for the students and also made sure every student had a text book this year.
Third, you and the board made it possible that children five years old and younger were admitted to all Southside home games free.
I’d also like to say thank you for our new basketball coach, a man who really cares about our children.
Last, but not least, the statement you made in March P.T.O. that Southside High School was debt-free and principal Dawson agreed, that was music to my ears.
In one year, you and the board have brought Southside out of a deep hole. That is why your departure brings with it a certain sense of regret.
We will miss you very much and please rest assured that we will attempt to continue running this board with the values and goals that you have helped set forth this year.
However, it will be challenging without your presence. You have been such an inspiration to all of us.
On behalf of myself and the parents, we thank you and wish you only the best in all your future endeavors.
