To the Editor:
Referring to an article about people running red and amber lights, this is the reason: The traffic lights were set years ago to stop you from one to the next.
Why you may ask. Simple – money, if you could calculate how much gas is burned by everyone stopping at every light, and you have to, or you run it.
The city will never change the synchronizing of the lights because of the tax money.
Look at the sales of gas!
People get so frustrated they try to make the next light before it changes to red, they tend to run amber or red, which is very dangerous.
The city could solve most of the problem by setting lights to keep traffic moving and not stopping it.
That’s how you control traffic.
Don’t look for that to happen.
In addition most all the lights are very old and there may be a problem in setting them. New lights may be in order.
