MARION — They had trouble hitting their lay-ups, but that is about the only thing that Meadowview Christian School boys did wrong Thursday afternoon.

The Trojans were able to handle Patrician Academy in route to a 61-35 drubbing.

“We played really well today,” said boy’s head coach Robbie Redd. “Our shots were falling tonight.”

Justin Friene lead the way in scoring 18 points and Daniel Blackman helped out with 11 points and seven rebounds.

Meadowview jumped out to a quick 14-4 lead in the first quarter behind three 3-point shots and cold shooting which would haunt Patrician the rest of the game.

“Tonight they (Patrician) just couldn’t hit anything, which isn’t normal,” said Redd. “You know, you come in wanting to win, but you want to see the other team do well,” .

In that first quarter Patrician was 2-11 shooting and in the second quarter that number moved to 4-20 as Meadowview built a 31-9 lead going into the half.

In the third and fourth quarters Patrician began to play better as Meadowview was able to play with a younger line-up.

However, by that time the gap was too wide for the Saints to overcome.

Daniel Glosson was the only Saint that did not have trouble shooting the ball.

Glosson was 9 for 11 from the field including Patrician’s first 13 points in route to his game high 20.

With the victory in hand Meadowview must now look towards tomorrow’s 12:30 p.m. game against the third-seeded Pickens Academy.

In the teams three previous match-ups the Trojans were able pull out two wins.

“We have to get ready for Pickens now,” said Redd. “It’s win or go home.”
