CLANTON – The Maplesville Red Devils tasted defeat earlier this season against Chilton County High in the Chilton County Tournament.
But Tuesday night, it was evident the Devils weren’t planning on coming back to the table for seconds. The 1A Red Devils topped the 5A Tigers 54-53.
It was a close one all the way through as the two teams battled it out.
Impressive shots beyond the arch and flashy dunks made for an exciting game.
Chilton County scored 12 unanswered points in the second period, putting them ahead of the Devils 24-17.
After several lead changes in the fourth, the outcome of the game was still in doubt.
But with 20 seconds to go, Nick Andrews put up the last two of the night, giving Maplesville the victory.
Brian McPherson had 14 points for the Tigers, and Theo Jones had 13. Maplesville’s Nick Andrews and Marcus Wilson had 15 and 13 points, respectively.
