Anthony D. Flannigan

Anthony D. Flannigan, age 47, of Tuscaloosa, died on December 27, 2006. He was born and raised in Selma, Ala. and graduated from Selma High School in 1977. Later that year, he came to Tuscaloosa as a freshman at the University of Alabama, where he met his future wife, Addie. He was a devoted husband and raised three daughters with her.

He spent his happiest moments caring for his family and serving the community. When “the girls,”

as he and his wife affectionately called their daughters, were young he volunteered countless hours participating in their school activities. After his girls were grown, Anthony continued to emphasize the importance of education by teaching technology skills to students at Shelton State Community College and the residents of the Greene County Housing Authority. He also provided computer-consulting services to private individuals and public institutions for over 10 years as owner of F.A.C.T.S computer services, from which he retired in 2005.

Anthony selflessly devoted his life to his family and his community. His example of courage and laughter will continue to enrich our lives for many years to come. Please come visit him one last time from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (205-553-9733), 800 25th Avenue East, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404. The Church will also provide funeral services at 2 p.m. on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the Alabama Kidney Foundation (800-750-3331) or to the American Diabetes Association (800-342-2383).

His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Flannigan and brother, Thomas Flannigan, preceded him in death. He is survived by Addie Flannigan, his wife of over 28 years, and their daughters, Antoinette (Reo) Mkwapatira, Adrienne (Jon) Humphreys, and Alaina Flannigan, his brothers Edger Flannigan and Willie Flannigan and sisters, Daisy Watts, Ola Simmons, Virginia Williams, Mildred Hines, Ethel Flannigan, and Ann Johnson along with innumerable other relatives, friends, and business associates.

Mr. Cleaven Cureton

Mr. Cleaven Cureton, age 53, of Marion, Ala. died on December 26, 2006 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Farris Cureton officiating. Burial will follow in Simpson Cemetery with Miller Funeral Service directing.

Survivors include: his wife, Christine M. Cureton.

Mr. Henry Davis

Mr. Henry Davis, age 53, of Autauga County died on December 25, 2006 in Autauga County. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at Big Spring Baptist Church with Rev. Jesse F. Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Big Springs Cemetery with Miller Funeral Service directing.

Survivors include: spouse, Jacquline B. Davis; two sons, Marcus Broadnax and Joshua Davis; two daughters, Crystal Davis and Trilisa Davis; five brothers, David Arrick, Freddie Davis, Jr., Willie J. Davis, Tommie Davis and Joe Lewis Davis; eight sisters, Lula Barnes, Julia Killingworth, Lugenia Johson, Mary Fortenberry, Dorothy Durden, JoAnn Embrick, Linda Champion and Marie Person; eight grandchildren, ten brothers-in-laws, four sisters-in-laws, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Ms. Johnnie Fuller

Ms. Johnnie Fuller, age 87, of Marion, Ala. died on December 21, 2006 at her home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Hope Well Baptist Church with Rev. Jessie Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Green Liberty B.C. with Miller Funeral Service directing.

Survivors include: one son, Jimmy Lee Fuller; four brothers, Johnny L. Fuller, Willie E. Fuller, Andrew Fuller, and David Fuller; six sisters, Addie Fuller, Pauline Gooden, Shirley Fuller, Claudia Richardson, Bettie Walker, and Willie C. Edwards; three grandchildren, two daughters-in-laws, four brothers-in-laws, five sisters-in-laws, and a host of nieces.

Pallbearers will be brothers, nephews and friends.

Rev. Lee Hayes, Jr.

Rev. Lee Hayes, Jr., 82, of Selma died December 21, 2006 in Palm Dale, Calif. Funeral services will be at True Vine Gospel Church. Burial in Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Flowers or cards can be sent to 859 Ave Q, Palm Dale, CA 93550 or Ruckers Mortuary, 12460 Van Nuys Blvd., Pacoima, CA 91331.

Lucille S. Moore

Lucille S. Moore of Dothan passed on to eternal life Wednesday, December 27, 2006.

She was 80 years old, having been born March 18, 1926 to Portuguese immigrants Abel and Madeline Santos in San Leandro, California. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, Ala. with Robert Byrd and Williams Funeral Home directing.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 31, 2006 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Allie Freeman and Rev. David Hendrix officiating.

The family will receive friends in the First United Methodist Church Parlor from 2 until 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 31, 2006.

In 1952 after a brief career in San Francisco and Hanford, California, she moved to Honolulu, Hawaii where she met and married Robert Moore of Selma, Alabama in 1955.

In 1956 she moved to Auburn, Alabama, where her husband completed work for his degree.

They settled in California where they lived until moving to Dothan, Ala. in 1990. Lucy was active in community and charity organizations and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Dothan.

She was always supportive of her husband’s career endeavors and community activities.

They were married for 51 years.

Lucy loved to travel and visited more than fifty countries and most of the fifty states. She was preceded in death by her parents, Abel C. and Madeline N. Santos.

Survivors include her husband Robert Moore; a son Robert Moore III; a daughter, Allison Stewart; two sisters, Rosalyn and Vivian; five grandchildren, Sarah, Janina, Jarrod, Madelyn, and Jennifer.

Lucy Lee James

Lucy Lee James, age 76, of Orrville (Dallas County) died on December 26, 2006 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at 12:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. John L. Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Service directing.

Survivors include: three sons, Lorenzo James, Jeremiah (Anita) James and Kent James; six daughters, Helen (Andrew) Bennett, Jerry Dean (Michael) George, Vivian James, Loretta James, Janice (Barry) Allen, Jewel (Dewayne) Sanders and Caroline Brown; three brothers, John (Gertrude), Aaron (Pearl) and Henry (Rose) James all of Cleveland, OH; two sisters, Annie Fair of Mobile, AL and Laurene Brown of Bedford, OH; nineteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Matthew J. Mallard

Matthew J. Mallard, age 72, died on December 23, 2006 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Gillard Baptist Church in Whitehall, Ala. with Rev. Allen Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Gillard Church Cemetery in Whitehall, Ala. with Washington Paige & Rollins Mortuary, Greensboro, Ala. directing. The body will lie in state from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church. Public viewing will be Friday 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m.

Columbus Brooks

Columbus Brooks, 64, of Burnsville died December 26, 2006 at his home. Funeral will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 30,2006 at Brien AME Church with Pas. Joanne Sharpe officiating. Burial in Home Aid Society Cemetery with J.H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home directing.

Deacon Aaron Lewis

Deacon Aaron Lewis, age 78, of Marion Junction, Ala. died on December 22,2006 at a local Hospital. Funeral services will be held on December 30,2006 at 11:00 a.m. at New Parnell Baptist Church with Rev. Earl Butler officiating. Burial will follow in New Parnell Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Rosie Franklin

Rosie Franklin, age 85, of Safford, Alabama died on December 26, 2006 at her home. Funeral services will be announced at a later date by Miller Funeral Service.
