Wade Locke
Wade Locke (AKA Dennis the Mennis), age 18, born July 25, 1988 passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2006. Survivors include: parents, Robert and Stacy Locke; brother, Austin; sister, Kayla; maternal grandparents, Sherry Banks and Kenneth Chambers; paternal grandparents, Willie J. (Pops) and Betty Locke and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his loving great grandparents, A.J. and Bertha Banks.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 16, 2006 in the Selma Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. George K. Jones, Sr. officiating. Visitation was on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home. Interment followed in Pineview Memory Gardens with Selma Funeral Home directing. A memorial was held on Tuesday by Billingsley High School and was covered by WSFA. Wade attended the Homewood School System for five years, where he played the Tenor Sax in the band.
Pallbearers were his brothers, Austin Banks, Kortney and Lamar Horton, Paul Bryant, Kerri South, Brandon Moore, David Henderson, Collier Payne, Tripp Horton, Jordan Howard, Jared Odom, Brandon and Stephen Kelley, Scooter Pitts, Scottie Varner, David Earl Dennis.
Honorary Pallbearers were the Billingsley HS Football Team, Coach James Carter, Asst. Coaches Deon Timmons, John Mabry, JT Lawrence, Vocational teacher, Spencer Thomas “Mr. T.”
A special “Thank You” to everyone who knew and loved Wade, the soon to be published Rap Man. A special thanks to George K. Jones Sr., the Billingsley High School and everyone who helped and most of Selma. A very special “Thank You” to the lady who paid for his resting place and to the employees at FEMA.
James Crosby Goodman
James Crosby Goodman, age 65, of Selma, AL, passed away August 18, 2006. Funeral services will be Monday, August 21, 2006, 2:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Smith officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.
Interment will be in New Live OakCemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 1-2:00 p.m.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue Goodman; one son, Tony Hill; one daughter, Sandra Cochran; one brother, Charles Goodman; five sisters, Sara Geneva Singleton, Willie Mae Smith, Lida Burrell, Etta B. Bradford and Lois ONeal; two grandchildren, Julie and Jonnathan Cochran; three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be J. R. Bickerstaff, Steve Lawrence, Obie Wayne Goodman, Cheyenne Bradford, Joseph Mills and James Womack.
Laura Sue May Hughes
Laura Sue May Hughes, age 77, died Thursday August 17, 2006 at home. Graveside funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday August 19, 2006 in Oakwood Cemetery in Greensboro, AL officiated by Rev. Dee McGuire and directed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home. Mrs. Hughes is survived by her two sons, James N. Hughes Jr. and his wife Martha Stephens Hughes and J. Bruce Hughes and his wife, Sharon Wood Hughes; five grandchildren, Kerri Danae (Hilton) McLain, Katherine Hamilton Hughes, Jonathan Shayne Hughes, Pitt Newton Hughes, and Forrest Eanes Hughes, brothers, Stephen W. May and Albert Y. May; and sisters, Janie Bess Ruckman and Warene Pinyard. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Newton Hughes Sr.
Brenda Rea Jones
Brenda Rea Jones, age 52, of Selma, AL passed away August 17, 2006. Funeral services will be Monday, August 21, 2006, 11:00 a.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Art Hartley officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.
Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, August 20, 2006, 6-8:00 p. m.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Wayne Jones, three daughters, Heather (James) Flynn, Sarah Jones and Beth Jones; one brother, Lawrence Lee (Sherri) Nichols, Jr. and three grandchildren, Eric Quigley, Nicholas Quigley and Kaitlyn Jones and numerous nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Lee Nichols, Sr. and Blanche Fondren Nichols.
Pallbearers will be David Hamm, Bruce Carswell, Michael Cowan, Patrick Carswell, Harold Quigley and Rhynie Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Elmer Workman, William Gray and Terry Campbell.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Troy Stokes Jr. with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department.
William O’Neal Washington
William O’Neal Washington, age 52, resident of Dallas County, died Aug. 15, 2006. Services are scheduled for Aug. 22, 2006 at Lewis Brothers Chapel, officiated by Pastor Levi Marshall. Burial will be held at College Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include father Abraham Washingston, four brothers; Abraham (Mildred) Washington, Clarence Washington, Alvin (Maybeline) Washington and Donald Washington, five sisters; Shirley Washington, Deborah (Willie) Brown, Era Dean (Willie) Hollinquest, Angela Washington and Doris Washington, three nephews, seven nieces, four great nephews, six great nieces and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Jean Washington.
