Margaret Edith Jones
Margaret Edith Jones, 88, of St. Augustine, died June 16, 2006, at home. Mrs. Jones was a native of Birmingham, Ala. She had lived in Minter, Ala., prior to coming to St. Augustine. Mrs. Jones was a licensed practical nurse and a longtime member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Carlowville, Ala.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
Survivors: Her daughter, Diane Jones Owens, St. Augustine; son, Charles Jones Jr., Greenville, S.C.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Jones Sr.
Craig Funeral Home and Crematory St Augustine is in charge of the arrangements.
Willie D. Kelley
Willie D. Kelley passed away on June 23, 2006.
She is survived by her husband, Donnie Kelley of Selma; her daughter, Velma Kelley and son, Daniel
Kelley of Selma; and her sisters, Ruby (Weldon) Lowery, Range AL; Bettie (Willie) Locke, Repton AL; and Nell (Dale) Bell, Theodore, AL.
She was preceded in death by her brother, William Odom.
Visitation will be Monday, June 26, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 P. M. at Selma Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at 1:00 P. M. in the Chapel of Selma Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Fancher, officiating.
Burial will be in the Concord Cemetery in Greensboro, AL.
Elizabeth Veneta White Thornton
Elizabeth Veneta White Thornton, died Saturday, June 24 2006 at home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2006 at Ocmulgee Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Taylor officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Thornton is survived by her brother, Julian A. (Joanne) White, nieces and nephews Julia Anne Russo, Cynthia Lee White, Ginger Kay Waites, Robert Mitchell, Margret Elaine Robbins, Jacqueline Ware, John Earnest White II, Bruce Howard White, Marvin Donald Creel Jr.,and John Morgan Creel.
Mrs. Thornton was preceded in death by her Father, John Earnest White and her mother, Addie Austell Lumley White, Brother, Earnest Lumley (Frances) White, Sister Johnnie Janice White Creel (Marvin Donald), and a niece, Elizabeth Doreen Creel.
Mrs. Thornton was a long time sales clerk at Teppers Department Store and a longtime member of Ocmulgee Baptist Church.
Active Pallbearers will be nephews and family friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Sunday, June 25, 2006 at Lawrence Funeral Home.
