A bond hearing was held for alleged robber Christopher Ward at the Dallas County Courthouse Wednesday afternoon.

Ward, who is said to be in his early 20s, was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree robbery and one count of third-degree robbery, said Assistant District Attorney John Oxford.

Oxford said a warrant was issued for Ward’s arrest several days ago, but the district attorney’s office sought to expedite the proceedings.

“We didn’t want to wait until his (Ward’s) first call,” Oxford said.

Ward was scheduled to appear in court next week. District Judge Bob Armstrong set Ward’s bond at $200,000.

Oxford said Wednesday he is “satisfied” with the judge’s decision.

Ward is the second suspect accused of robbing a female victim in Old Live Oak Cemetery March 19. A firearm was used in the incident, Oxford said.

The other suspect, 20-year-old Pollard Williams of Selma, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of third-degree burglary, and one count each of third-degree burglary and robbery.

Williams is also suspected of burglarizing several homes in the area.

On May 10, Judge Armstrong raised Williams’ bond from $55,000 to $400,000.

Ward’s third-degree robbery charge stems from a March 10 robbery in a parking lot across the street from the cemetery. According to reports, physical force was used against a female victim during the incident.
