Thursday afternoon proved to be another rough outing for the Central Christian Warriors who fell 17-4 to Class A’s Autauga Academy.

Trailing 12-4 going into the bottom of the fifth inning, the Warriors put a runner on base courtesy of a walk, but a double play on a flyball ended any sign of a Warrior comeback.

In the top of the sixth inning, the Generals put the game out of reach.

Autauga put three runners on courtesy of walks and then pushed two of the General baserunners across following a double down the leftfield line. Autauga added another set of runs when the Warriors weren’t able to corral a wild pitch.

The Warriors forced back-to-back groundouts to end the inning.

CCA attempted to rally in the top of the sixth when two men reached base, but a trio of strikeouts ended the game.

CCA will be back in action on Monday when they play host to Shelby Academy at Bloch Park. CCA’s softball squad, the Lady Warriors, will also be in action on Monday against the Lady Chargers of Shelby Academy. First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m., at the Dallas County softball complex.

While CCA was struggling offensively, the Morgan Academy Lady Senators were putting the finishing touches on an 11-2 victory over Wilcox Academy.

The Lady Senators nearly ended the game in the bottom half of the sixth, but couldn’t push the 10th run across the board.

One inning later, the Lady Senator’ pitching staff forced a trio of pop ups to secure the victory.

Morgan will get their first taste of regional competition on Tuesday when they travel to Greenville for a twinbill with Fort Dale.

In AHSAA action, the Dallas County Lady Hornets rebounded from their one-run loss to Demopolis with a narrow, 18-7 beating of the Greensboro Lady Raiders on the road Thursday night.

Despite an armload of errors by the Lady Hornets, Dallas County was able to handily beat their opponents.

Jessica Melton got the &8216;W’ for the Lady Hornets, going the distance and notching eight strikeouts against five hits and a pair of earned runs.

At the plate, Melton led the DCHS offense with a trio of doubles and a single.

Ashley Ingram finished the night with a pair of doubles and a single. Emilee Poe and Kenesha Jefferson both finished with a pair of hits each.

DCHS hosts Stanhope-Elmore on Friday in Plantersville.
