&045; The Meadowview Christian Lady Trojans fell behind early but stood toe-to-toe with the South Choctaw Academy Lady Rebels for the better part of the three periods.

The fourth period, however proved to be the difference as the Lady Trojans got into foul trouble, leading to their elimination from the AISA’s Regional Tournament

at Faulkner University on Friday.

Meadowview took the floor and at the end of two periods trailed by 10, 36-26.

Twenty-four of their points were contributed from the McIntyre family. Carol Ann and Elyse both posted 12 points while Devan Aultman added a first half basket.

The second half, though, the Lady Trojans came out playing catch-up and eventually brought the deficit to nine-points with little time left on the clock.

South Choctaw carried a 15-point lead into the final frame, 49-34. The Lady Trojans, however, battled cutting the lead to 12 points and then down to 10 points.

Fouls, however, turned into an issue when MCS’s starting five took the floor with at least a trio of fouls each.

With under 3:00 to go in the game, the Trojans lost senior Kasey Burton.

Less than 2:00 later, Carol Ann McIntyre was forced to take a seat, recording her fifth foul of the game.

The Lady Trojans from that point tried to make a comeback, but still came up 10-points short, losing 62-52.

Carol Ann McIntyre finished the night with 23 points and six rebounds. Elyse added 17 points including a pair of triples and four rebounds to go along with two steals. Aultman added nine points and eight rebounds. Haley Johnston also grabbed eight boards.

For South Choctaw, Kate Dahlberg was the leading Lady Rebel with 25 points.

The loss ended the Lady Trojans’ season in which they went 6-0 in area play during the regular season and then swept the area tournament for a No. 1 seeding in the regional tournament.

In other AISA basketball action The Wilcox Academy Wildcats were put out of the tournament by the top seeded Taylor Road Academy Tigers.

The Wildcats and the Tigers were dead even at the end of the first period, knotted at 8-8

At the end of the half, though, the Tigers began to pull away by carrying a five-point margin into the lockerroom, at the intermission, 25-20.

The Tigers continued to keep the Wildcats at bay, outscoring them 23-9 in the third period, en route to claiming a 48-29 lead.

Wilcox stood toe-to-toe with Taylor Road in the fourth period, being outscored by only three points, 23-20. But when that tally was addded to the final score, the Wildcats came out on the short end, 71-49.

Zach Kennedy led the Wildcats with 11 points. Crum Cook and Andrew Wright both added eight points.

For Taylor Road, Jason Boswell posted 13 points.

Jeremy Calloway had 11 points and Micah Allen had 10 points.
