Lamont D. Chapman of Selma received a $250,000 bond Tuesday from Judge Bob Armstrong for a shooting that occurred outside Club Destiny, according to the district attorney’s office.

Chapman was arrested last weekend after he allegedly opened fire outside the nightclub on Franklin Street and Alabama Avenue, prosecutors said.

Several shots were fired, injuring Kenneth Moore, 26, and Demetrius Collins, 19.

Moore, of 1421 St. Phillips St. was hit in the left leg twice. Collins’ injuries couldn’t be determined as of press time.

Chapman is being charged with two counts of first-degree assault for the injuries both men sustained.

He’s also being charged with one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle.

Bullets also hit Enid Mixon’s car.

Mixon, of County Road 900, was uninjured.

Several other cars were also hit in the incident, prosecutor John Oxford said, but the other victims were from out of town and declined to press charges.

Oxford said that evidence indicates none of the victims were the target of the shooting.

“Collins said he was talking on his cell phone,” Oxford said.

Oxford doesn’t know who the intended target, if any, was.

Both Moore and Collins identified Chapman as the shooter, Oxford said.

Collins picked his photo out of a photo lineup.

“Moore knew him and ID’d him by name,” Oxford said.

Oxford said the preliminary hearing in the case would be held on Dec. 8.
